Irrigation Meters Available
Irrigation meters may be rented at City Hall for $15. The earlier the meter is used, the greater the savings by crediting sewer charges back to your account. If you have a garden or swimming pool, these meters are for you! The meter records the amount of outside water usage. Your monthly bill does not change, but at the end of the watering season (usually October), you will get a refund on sewer charges for the amount used.
Permanent irrigation meters may be installed in your home by your own licensed plumber. Water only, no sewer, will be billed monthly. Call City Hall for more information.
Burning Yard Waste
On March 15, yard waste burning is resumed through May 30. By City ordinance, burning shall not begin until 11 a.m. and must be completed by 8 p.m. Burning is for yard waste only. No garbage may be burned.
Yard Waste Pickup Resumes
Yard waste pick-up will resume Tuesday, April 1st and continues through November. Yard waste is grass, leaves, and garden debris, which must be placed in a paper yard waste bag. Green stickers for yard waste bags can be purchased at City Hall for $1.25 each. Brush and limbs are to be cut into 4-foot lengths, bundled and tied. Stickers are not required for brush.
Garbage
Please remember on windy days to have loose papers, paper shredding, etc. in bags inside your carts and recycling weighted down to keep litter from blowing around town.
Committees and Boards
Mayor Harmsen is looking for volunteers to serve the City on various Committees and Boards. Contact the Mayor or City Hall if you are interested in serving.
Turn Lane Project
Two turning lanes will be added on the highway approaching West Second Avenue and Norfolk Iron Drive. The project will take about two months. During that time traffic control measures will be implemented. Please be aware of construction workers and drive cautiously.
