Lost and At-Large Dogs
The City of Durant has a kennel for lost dogs at the sewer plant. If your dog is missing, please call City Hall at 785-4451. If your dog is found at large in Durant it will be picked up by a Durant police officer or a public works employee. Your dog will be fed, watered and exercised while residing at the sewer plant. There is a $25.00 charge to reclaim your dog. The dog is usually kept in the kennel for up to 48 hours before it is taken to the Muscatine Humane Society.
Irrigation Meters Still Available
Irrigation meters may be rented at City Hall for $15.00. The earlier the meter is used, the greater the savings by crediting sewer charges back to your account. If you have a garden or swimming pool, these meters are for you! The meter records the amount of outside water usage. Your monthly bill does not change, but at the end of the watering season (usually October) you will receive credit on your water bill for the sewer charges.
Permanent irrigation meters may be installed in your home by your own licensed plumber. Water only, no sewer, will be billed monthly. Call City Hall for more information.

Major recreational equipment may be parked anywhere on a residential property for loading and unloading purposes, for no more than 24 hours.
