Public Works
The Public Works Department maintains and manages parks and recreation, streets, community center, storm sewer utility, vehicle and building repair and maintenance and refuse and recycling collections. The department works with engineers, city officials and the public in the development of long range plans and programs. The Public Works Director coordinates the purchase of necessary supplies and equipment and provides for the efficient and timely maintenance and repair of all city vehicles and public works equipment.
The City of Durant currently has miles of streets and acres of parks which are the responsibility of Public Works Department.
Water
The Durant Water Department is responsible for the ongoing operation and maintenance of the Water Utility. The City of Durant's water system currently consists of wells, two elevated water towers, a water treatment facility used primarily for the removal of iron. Durant water is treated with floride and contains 18 grains of hardness. The Department actively promotes water conservation.
Wastewater
The Wastewater Department plans for and anticipates the needs of the ongoing operation and maintenance of the Wastewater Utility. Significant wastewater improvements have been made during the past decade.
